Slovakia led the way in Friday’s Auto Slalom Qualifying at Circuit Ricardo Tormo. Michaela Dorčíková / David Nemcek proved the class of the field with a combined time of 5m43.481s, beating defending gold medallist Germany by a little under three seconds.
Using Hyundai’s KONA Electric N Line, competitors undertook timed runs of a demanding course laid out at Circuit Ricardo Tormo. Today was a battle against the stopwatch, with the objective being to set the best time. Israel was also impressive, placing third and ensuring a favourable opponent in tomorrow’s Eight-Final. Estonia, Malaysia and Norway completed the top six on Friday.
The competition now shifts to a knockout format. Slovakia will compete against today’s 16th fastest team, Albania, while Germany takes on 15th placed Ukraine, Israel faces Australia and Estonia battles against Czechia. The Eight-Final begins at 14:15 while the Quarter-Final runs at 17:15. The deciding contests running on Sunday, with the Final at 13:05.
