Juncadella Representing Spain on Home Soil
October 23, 2024
Spaniard Daniel Juncadella – a 24 Hours of Spa Champion, International GT Champion, and FIA European Formula 3 Champion, to name a few accomplishments – is on the GT Sprint grid this weekend representing his home country on his home soil.
Juncadella, who hails from Barcelona just four hours from this weekend’s host Circuit Ricard Tormo, will be piloting a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in front of the Spanish fans, but this will be his second time competing in the FIA Motorsport Games after participating at Paul Ricard in 2022.
“I’m never really representing my country other than in single events,” said Juncadella. “This is the kind of event where I’m by myself in the cars, representing my country, showcasing the car with a flag, with the Spanish colors. It’s a unique event, it’s super special.
Juncadella also highlighted how the Games provide an additional incentive to score a podium finish, an achievement he was unfortunately unable to capture two years ago.
“It always looks nice to be on a podium and getting a medal instead of a trophy, it’s something unique… Hopefully second time, lucky charm.”
🇪🇸 #TeamSpain star @dani_juncadella talks about representing his country at the @FIA Motorsport Games.
Juncadella will be in action in the #GTSprint discipline on Sunday.

FIA Motorsport Games Preview: Historic Rally
October 23, 2024
Ten crews representing six nations will challenge for the three gold medals available in the Historic Rally class at the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games held in Valencia, Spain, from 23-27 October, with legendary cars such as the Audi quattro and Ford Escort RS1800 set to shine.
Adding a glorious mix of classic machinery to the event, the category is open to rally cars homologated between 1970 and 1981. Entries must also possess a valid FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP) and comply with FIA Appendix K regulations to ensure that they are authentic to the cars that tackled the likes of the FIA World Rally Championship half a century ago.
While the Historic Rally division debuted in the second installment of the Games in 2022, this time around, there is triple the number of medals to be won. In Marseille two years ago, the schedule consisted purely of asphalt stages. For this edition, drivers will compete for glory in separate tarmac, gravel and mixed-surface contests.
FIA Motorsport Games Preview: Formula 4
October 23, 2024
A highly competitive grid comprising 22 nations will compete for Formula 4 gold at this year’s FIA Motorsport Games.
One of the six founding disciplines that made up the inaugural edition in 2019, the latest instalment will unfold at Circuit Ricardo Tormo Valencia between Friday, 25 and Sunday, 27 October.
Of the six disciplines that make up the Circuit category, Formula 4 has by far the youngest grid. The majority of this year’s contenders are in their teens and have recently made the jump from karting to single-seaters.
FIA Motorsport Games Preview: Touring Car
October 23, 2024
ne of the founding disciplines featured at the inaugural edition of the FIA Motorsport Games in 2019, the Touring Car category will once again be a fiercely contested category at the 2024 event held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.
Competitors will battle it out in two-litre turbocharged touring cars built to TCR regulations, vying for position across two Free Practice sessions, Qualifying and a Qualifying Race, before the all-important 30-minute Main Race determines the medals on Sunday afternoon.
FIA Motorsport Games Preview: Karting
October 23, 2024
A staggering 136 entries will contest the four karting categories for the third edition of the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia next week.
The huge entry – almost double the number of competitors from 2022 – shows the great appeal of the FIA Motorsport Games, as Karting Mini joins the existing Karting Sprint Junior and Senior, and Karting Endurance categories.
Part of the ever-increasing range of disciplines comprising the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games, sees the introduction of the Karting Mini category with ‘stars of the future’ as young as eight years old competing for their respective nations on the international stage.
FIA Motorsport Games Preview: Drifting
October 23, 2024
Drifting has been a part of the FIA Motorsport Games since the inaugural edition in 2019 and once again promises to be a fiercely contested discipline at this year’s event in Spain. Indeed, a field of 33 nations will compete for gold when the action gets underway in Valencia, establishing a new record number of Drifting entries.
While it forms part of the Circuit category, Drifting is fundamentally different from the likes of GT, Touring Car and Formula 4. Rather than racing, time is not the decider and entrants compete to impress a panel of three judges who consider the angle of drift, line, and style, adding scores from these criteria for a maximum of 100 points in qualifying.
In the tandem battles – including the gold medal match-up – each driver will be in the leading vehicle for one run and in the chasing vehicle for the other. The leading driver’s objective is to replicate what would be a perfect qualifying run, while the chasing driver must do their best to mirror the run of the leader while remaining as close as possible.
FIA Motorsport Games Preview: Esports
October 23, 2024
The largest Esports field in the history of the FIA Motorsport Games will go head-to-head for glory across two categories this year, with a total of six medals up for grabs in the heart of Valencia.
A total of 117 drivers representing 70 different countries will compete for honours across both GT and single-seater racing as this year’s contest expands to include FIA Formula 4 alongside the traditional GT3-based digital competition.
The winner of the Esports F4 contest will also be rewarded with a test day in a real-world Formula 4 machine, further emphasising the career pathway Esports competition can represent.
