Spaniard Daniel Juncadella – a 24 Hours of Spa Champion, International GT Champion, and FIA European Formula 3 Champion, to name a few accomplishments – is on the GT Sprint grid this weekend representing his home country on his home soil.
Juncadella, who hails from Barcelona just four hours from this weekend’s host Circuit Ricard Tormo, will be piloting a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in front of the Spanish fans, but this will be his second time competing in the FIA Motorsport Games after participating at Paul Ricard in 2022.
“I’m never really representing my country other than in single events,” said Juncadella. “This is the kind of event where I’m by myself in the cars, representing my country, showcasing the car with a flag, with the Spanish colors. It’s a unique event, it’s super special.
Juncadella also highlighted how the Games provide an additional incentive to score a podium finish, an achievement he was unfortunately unable to capture two years ago.
“It always looks nice to be on a podium and getting a medal instead of a trophy, it’s something unique… Hopefully second time, lucky charm.”
