The first racing action kicked off at a sunny Aspar Circuit this morning with Team Spain enjoying home success in the opening heats.
Bosco Arias led from start to finish in a frenetic Karting Sprint Jr Heat 1, as chaos behind ensued when a multi-kart pile-up took out no fewer than nine competitors on the opening lap.
The theme continued in the scrap for the other podium positions, which were eventually taken by Team Switzerland’s Chiara Bättig and Team Türkiye’s Iskender Zülfikari.
Team Spain immediately doubled up in Karting Sprint Sr as Ruben Moya Lopez dominated the 11-lap contest, ahead of Team Czechia’s Václav Procházka and Team Malta’s Jacob Micallef.
Procházka’s performance was particularly impressive as he made a couple of eye-catching moves on his way up to second.
These bouts head a total of eight heats during Saturday covering Karting Sprint Jnr, Karting Sprint Snr and Kart Mini, whilst the medal race in Karting Endurance will take place at 14:30 CET later today.
